Just boarded VIA’s flagship train the “Canadian” and found out that there is no onboard Internet west of Toronto. That’s right – from Toronto to Winnipeg: no wifi. From Winnipeg to Edmonton: no wifi. From Edmonton to Jasper: no wifi. From Jasper to Vancouver: no wifi.
No cell phone service, either, except in the cities.
And I thought it was bad that you could get wifi only in the service car on the “Ocean” (Halifax to Montreal).
That also means no wifi on my treks north to Prince Rupert and Churchill – and Churchill is a minimum 48-hour journey from Winnipeg.
Yikes.
I’m supposed to be working.
Not sure how this is going to turn out.
